Places In Nigeria Where Kids Can Learn Coding This Summer

If you ever wish your kid to be interested in technology, it’s best you get him or her acquitted to technology environment in order to be equipped for the future technology.

No doubt “the future is technology and technology is the future”. And Africa is yet to get a grip of it, this is because there are still few African involved in technology. But in oder for Africa to get it right with technology this time, African kids need to be introduced into the world of technology at a very early stage, and guess what? There are numerous opportunities now open for that. That’s why Techplus taken it upon themselves to carefully select events where your kids can learn coding in Nigeria this summer.

There are wonderful locations where these kids can learn though, mostly concentrated in Lagos, there are still a few in other cities.

So, if you would like your kids to learn coding or be introduced to programming, here are the few options available.

CCHub Summer School of Code

CCHub always has something planned for the kids and this year’s Summer School of Code is a fun, interactive 4-week programme introducing kids aged between 5 and 18 years to computer science and programming.

Date: 31st July – 26th August 2017

States: Lagos, Abuja, Oyo & Osun

colab kids summerColab’s Summer School

For residents in Kaduna, there is also an opportunity for kids to learn about what makes our programs work. CoLab will be organizing a summer camp for kids where they can have an introduction to various technology concepts and work on projects in animation and game development, Robotics and Internet of Things (IoT), Programming with Python and an introduction to Web Design and Development using HTML and CSS.

Code4kids codeCode4Kids

Code4Kids is not a summer camp but a bootcamp that introduces students to coding. The bootcamp designed to train and kids regardless of class (Art, Science and Commercial) with the right computer programming tools to becoming a Web Developer. The camp is open to children and teens between the ages of 11 and 19 years.

Date: 14th August – 8th September 2017

Time: 11:00AM – 1:00PM

State:Redahlia Workspaces, Emina Crescent, Off Toyin Street, Ikeja, Lagos

Young Inventors Summer Camp

Center4Tech is organizing a technology training camp for primary and secondary school students tagged “Young Inventors Summer Camp 2017”. It will be open for students aged between 8 – 17 and at the end of the camp, students will showcase their designs and prototypes where various prizes will be won by the best prototypes in various categories.

Date: July 31 – August 25, 2017

Time: 11:00AM – 1:00PM

States: Lagos (Ogba, Lekki, surulere, Festac), Rivers and Abuja

kids code summer club

Makers’ Club Holiday Programme

This is organised by Start Innovation Hub. The club is for children aged 8 to 17 years old. Kid will have a chance to not only learn programming but also their problem-solving and logical thinking skill. At the end there will be a hackathon for students to make a product with the knowledge with which they have acquired.

Brainiacs summer codeBrainiacs Summer Camp

Braniacs STEM and Robotics will kids to programming and will have a lot of focus on hardware with introductory lessons on electronic circuits, robotics, internet of things and also programming.

Date: 24th July – 1st September
Time: 10:00AM to 2:00PM daily
